Abstract | A new and convenient two-step sequence to prepare 4-cyano-1,2,3-triazoles from terminal alkynes and organic azides has been developed. This sequence involves Cu-mediated 1-cyanoalkyne formation via in-situ formed cyanogen, and Ru-catalysed regiospecific azide-alkyne cycloaddition. A new mechanistic proposal distinguishing from that the terminal alkynes adopt under the same reaction conditions is proposed. |
